Job description

Vision and objectives

As a Motion Designer, your role is critical in transforming static graphics into high-quality, studio-level animations that align with the client’s brand and creative vision. By combining advanced technical skills with a creative approach, you will create engaging visual content that enhances the overall storytelling experience. Your work will ensure that brand consistency is maintained across all animated elements, while also delivering customized, tailored animations that meet specific client objectives. With a focus on producing polished, professional content, you will help clients effectively communicate their messages through impactful and visually compelling motion graphics.

Responsibilities and Duties

Graphic and Motion Design (80%)

  • Translate creative briefs into high-quality, animated graphic content that aligns with the client’s brand and project goals.

  • Develop and execute creative concepts for motion graphics projects, including storyboarding, creating style frames, and conceptualizing animation sequences.

  • Design and animate visual elements, including typography, illustrations, logos, and other graphic assets, ensuring seamless integration into video projects.

  • Edit and integrate motion graphics into video content, maintaining consistency in visual style, transitions, and timing for a polished final product.

  • Propose innovative, creative ideas that elevate the client’s content, while ensuring alignment with their brand identity.

  • Ensure all motion design work adheres to technical standards, meets client specifications, and maintains consistency across projects.

Collaboration and Teamwork (10%)

  • Work closely with Art Directors, graphic designers, video editors, and other creative team members to maintain a cohesive visual direction across all content.

  • Engage in regular feedback sessions to refine creative work and ensure that all designs align with the overall vision.

  • Provide input on motion design best practices and trends to enhance team workflows and creative outcomes.

  • Report on progress to the Artistic Director and Director of Post-Production during daily, weekly, and monthly reviews.

Personal Development (10%)

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest motion design software, techniques, and industry trends, proactively applying new knowledge to your work.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities, such as workshops, training sessions, or team skill-sharing, to continuously improve your creative and technical abilities.

  • Experiment with new animation styles and creative approaches to push the boundaries of the team's creative output.

Profile

Abilities and Competences

  • Mastery of Motion Design Tools: Proficient in industry-standard software such as Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Familiarity with other animation tools like Cinema 4D or similar is a plus.

  • Creative Vision and Innovation: Ability to conceptualize and bring innovative ideas to life through visually compelling animations. You have a strong eye for detail, ensuring your work not only meets but exceeds client expectations in quality and creativity.

  • Graphic Design Skills: In addition to motion design, you should have a solid foundation in graphic design, with the ability to create and animate visual elements such as typography, illustrations, and logos that enhance the storytelling of the project.

  • Audio-Visual Integration: Comfortable integrating audio elements like music, voiceovers, and sound effects into your animations, ensuring a seamless and engaging multimedia experience.

  • Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment where client needs and project goals may evolve. You’re resourceful and can find creative solutions to design challenges while maintaining high-quality standards.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen, communicate clearly, and work well within a team. You’re comfortable receiving and giving constructive feedback to ensure the final product meets client and team expectations.

  • Attention to Detail: You have a meticulous approach to animation, ensuring all elements, from timing to transitions, are precise and consistent with the project’s vision and brand guidelines.

  • Time Management and Multitasking: Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, you can prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines without compromising quality.

  • Continuous Learning: Passionate about staying updated with the latest trends in motion design and animation. You’re proactive in learning new tools, techniques, and creative approaches to push the boundaries of your work.

  • Language Skills: Fluency in French is required, with English being highly desirable as it is the company’s working language. However, flexibility is offered depending on the candidate’s skill set.

Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Motion Design, Animation, or a related field is required. Equivalent professional experience in lieu of formal education may also be considered for exceptional candidates.

  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in motion design, animation, or video production, ideally gained in a production company, creative agency, or similar environment. Recent graduates with outstanding portfolios demonstrating exceptional animation and motion design skills will also be considered.

  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing a range of motion design work, including animations, video projects, and visual storytelling. The portfolio should demonstrate a creative eye, technical proficiency, and the ability to maintain brand consistency.

  • Software Proficiency: Expertise in industry-standard tools such as Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, and other relevant design and animation software (e.g., Cinema 4D). Familiarity with 3D animation software is an advantage.

  • Languages: Fluency in French is required, and proficiency in English is highly desirable due to the company’s working language. Flexibility may be offered based on the candidate’s overall skill set and qualifications.
